Cambridge Afternoon Tea

I fear as my final University exams loom I won’t be blogging for at least a month now – or not blogging regularly by any means 😦

Today’s post ventures down the Instagram trend of ‘Throwback Thursday’ – a post of a favourite memories.

Two months ago I celebrated my 21st birthday and I went to Cambridge for the day for afternoon tea and a look around.

We visited Harriet’s Tearoom which was hidden away down a picturesque cobbled street.

It really captured the oldy worldly English tea room vibe, the waitresses were even in black and white tea lady outfits.

There was a bit of a wait for a table so we browsed the menu whilst we waited.

Once seated, all went for the Special Afternoon Tea (£15.95) each. And this beautiful little (well big) number arrived….

Well worth the money I thought. Especially when compared to the colossal price of a Ritz Afternoon Tea which whilst was incredible, lead you to eat a sickening amount to get your monies worth.

I started on the selection of smoked salmon, cucumber and cream cheese, and chicken sandwiches…

Followed by warm fruit scones with cream and jam…

And cute patisseries. Chocolate mousse, custard tart and orange profiterole…

So yummyyyyyy.

The chocolate mousse was my favourite. Everything was delicious though, especially when washed down with copious amounts of Darjeeling mmmmm.

We spent the rest of the day walking off our feast and exploring the beautiful city.

We visited The Fitzwilliam Museum. Me and my sister always get the giggles in museums and end up finding the funny side in the strangest objects…

The college buildings were incredible and made my own Uni buildings look pretty shite!

Some more museums and galleries were visited..

It was a lovely, relaxing, cultured birthday for sure. And when we got home, there was more food!

A requested Rolo cake made by ma Mum and an obligatory happy birthday sing song. Best chocolate in the world. And a great way to end the day.
